Property Description
This beach house is a charming property situated
quite literally on the beach at the delightfully low-key resort of Le
Racou, just south of Argeles. There are a number of properties on the
beach here, and this one is one the second row back from the seafront
itself, and although just a footstep away from the sea, is thus quieter
and more private than those right on the front.
The house consists mainly of one large living/dining room, which has 2
comfortable single sofa beds.
A ladder leads to a mezzanine area which has a double bed. A children's
bedroom to the rear of the property has bunk beds suitable for under
10s.
The separate kitchen is well equipped with gas hob, electric oven, large
fridge-freezer and dishwasher.
The shower room and toilet is also to the rear of the property.
There is a south-facing decked terrace, benefiting from the shade of a
fig tree.
Here you have dining table and chairs, plus barbeque. Deck chairs and
umbrellas are available for relaxing on the beach itself. There is a
good stock of board games, buckets and spades, bats and balls etc.
A 2 minute walk takes you to the main (and only!) street in Le Racou (it
is a cul-de-sac, thus no through traffic) where you'll find a variety of
restaurants, bars and shops, including 2 grocers selling fresh produce
and bread.
Le Racou is blissfully undeveloped - there are no big hotels, high
rises, discos or amusement arcades.
You may find you never need to leave, but if you do want a little more
action, Argeles is just a 15 minute walk to the north (or 5 minute bike
ride - bicycles are available for hire at the local campsite).
Alternatively, just south of Le Racou is the wonderfully picturesque
town of Collioure, famous for attracting artists such as Matisse, Derain
and Picasso, with its cupola'd bell tower in the harbour and pretty
winding streets."
